Volunteers are the heartbeat of KEY Project
People like YOU and everyone from students, businesses, religious, civic and sports groups, educators, families, and retirees. Majority of live in the ko’olaupoko area, currently or previously participated in one or more of our services or programs, and have a strong desire to give back, take care of, and improve the general well being of their community and the center.
What do they do?
Our volunteers are known to perform an impressive range of activities that include sharing skills or knowledge with program participants, up-keeping the facility, coordinating learning experiences, hosting community movie nights, swap and meets, BINGO or trunk or treat events and lending a hand at important fundraising events like Mothers and Others, Fathers Day Fest, Ko’olau Ohana Festival, and Thanksgiving Turkey Imu.
When are your events?
Kupuna Breakfast, a social meal service for senior citizens is held on Wednesdays and Friday mornings 8 am.
Holomua Youth Program, an afterschool enrichment project is held Monday through Friday 2:30 to 5 pm.
Ohana Fiood Bank, a food distribution is held on the 1st Tuesday and 3rd Monday of each month, except holidays at 2 pm.
Mothers and Others, a benefit brunch is held on the Saturday before Mother’s Day at 10 am
Fathers Day Fest, a benefit breakfast is held on the Saturday before Father’s Day at 8 am
Ohana Movie Night, last Friday of January to September at 6 pm
Ko’olua Ohana Festival, a corporate fundraising dinner is held on the 3rd Saturday of October,
Trunk or Treat, last Friday of October or on the 31st at 5 pm
Kalua Turkey Imu, a Thanksgiving fundraising event is held on Wednesday night and the morning of Thanksgiving.
Malama KEY, a beautification program is held quarterly and scheduled with the help of large groups, schools, businesses and staff.
