Joe C. Harper Community Meeting Room (Rooms 102/103)
Named after a long-time community organizer/leader and supporter of KEY Project and a Kahalu’u Lions Club member, these conjoined rooms host many of our area meetings and hearings (the Kahalu`u Neighborhood Board meets here each month). Located on the ground floor, the rooms can be divided into 2 with accordion doors. Smart Board technology is also available in this room (see photo); seating (when combined): approximately 50 persons. Air-conditioning not currently available.
Mauka Meeting Room (Room 105)
This ground-floor room is located at the mauka end of the two-story classroom section of our complex and is “away from it all” – facing the beautiful mountains. Its cathedral-style architecture provides a great atmosphere for meetings and speakers, supported by available Smart Board or projector; comfortably seats 16-20 people.
IT-Supported Classroom (Room 204)
Located adjacent to the others, this classroom is also equipped with a Smart Board and seats approximately 16 people.
KEY Project Facilities
Our Multi-Purpose Center, located in Waihe`e ahupua`a (Ko`olaupoko – the Windward side of O`ahu – is at the heart of our community’s civic center. We are surrounded by Kahalu`u Regional Park, in close proximity to Kahalu`u Elementary School, the fire station, several area churches and the village business area near Hygienic Store where the watershed meets Kane`ohe Bay. Our non-profit organization serves the immediate 96744 community and the extended area from Kane`ohe to Kahuku, providing programs and services of our own and others through strategic partnerships. With the backdrop of the Ko`olau Range, KEY’s site is an excellent, quiet setting for community gatherings, seminars and conferences, meetings and classes.
Ample public parking is available both on-site and either along Waihe`e Road or at the nearby park. We invite you to consider KEY as a site for your needs: easily-accessible; ADA compliant; and, a great venue away from the bustle and traffic of the urban core. The Community center complex includes a wide range of amenities: a computer learning center and class rooms; meeting areas for training sessions, seminars; and, an enclosed Pavilion (with a stage) to accommodate larger gatherings/events. In addition we have a fully certified kitchen located adjacent to the main hall, capable of catering large or small events. IT support and internet connections are excellent throughout the entire complex.
